The most-known producer in trap is its most unknown: a shadowy figure who crept onto the scene and shaped an anything-but-quiet movement out of 808s and ASCII. ƱZ’s Trap Shit series blew up that trap shit, bringing hip hop and idiosyncrasy into bass music. In early July, ƱZ released the last volume of Trap Shit, the end of an era and the start of something new.
Frontier is out now on BitTorrent Bundle, as part of a 45-track digital box set spanning the producer’s career. Also part of the download: the key to unlock the unreleased Trap Shit V10, and the opportunity to collaborate with ƱZ on an official new release. The T(RAP) Shit Contest includes an instrumental to rap over, with instructions for how to enter your track.
