King of K-Town Dumbfoundead World Premiere Music Video “Safe”

Korean-American rapper flips (off) the script on stereotypes

Jonathan Park, aka Dumbfoundead, launches his latest single that speaks the uncomfortable truth Hollywood and pop culture needs to hear, and the timing is flinty during Asian-American Heritage month and the explosion of the #whitewashedOUT tag on Twitter. The steady, haunting, electric beat is supported by Dumbfoundead’s provocative, sharp lyrics. “Safe,” the title of the cut, is anything but and attacks Asian stereotypes as fiercely as they are created. Unlike the Asian characters on screen that take it and smile as the punching bag of America – this video fights back. Directed by Jay Ahn, Park re-imagines cult movie and television classics with himself as the lead and forces us to deal with it.

Throw your own voice in the mix when you are done spinning this debut with Dumbfoundead’s ongoing discussion about the need to expand diversity in entertainment and beyond.
