Fans set the price of the first BitTorrent feature film release.
HITS, written and directed by David Cross, debuted at Sundance Film Festival in January 2014: a dark comedy about fame and delusion in The United States of YouTube, a true story that hasn’t happened yet. (But, pretty much inevitably, will.)
Katelyn (Meredith Hagner) is obsessed with winning a role on The Voice, and Internet stardom. But it’s her father, Dave (Matt Walsh), who ends up the social media celebrity after a filmed outburst at a local town hall meeting ends up on YouTube. As Internet fame infects and upends lives in the small town of Liberty, N.Y., Cross explores the cost of viral culture.
On February 13, in partnership with Honora, HITS is coming to BitTorrent Bundle as a pay-what-you-want film. You’ll also be able to set your own price at PWYW screenings in 20-25 US cities. Support the project on Kickstarter. And stay tuned for more details.
