To mark the U.S. release of BAFTA-nominated thriller Kilo Two Bravo, Honora & We Are The Mighty launch a Bundle for the film, featuring behind-the-scenes footage, and an exclusive photo essay from RISC Training with an introduction from Sebastian Junger. Once the Bundle reaches 1MM downloads, the filmmakers will release the full feature as a pay-what-you-want download.
Kilo Two Bravo is an excruciatingly tense thriller about heroism, survival, and the reality of modern warfare: the true story of a group of soldiers on a mission to neutralize a Taliban roadblock in the Kajaki region of Afghanistan. In closing in on the insurgents, the unit find themselves marooned in the middle of a minefield, setting in motion a desperate rescue mission.
“Kilo Two Bravo isn’t based on a true story. It is a true story. Filming didn’t begin until each surviving soldier from the five-hour rescue mission approved the script. What the film captures is the reality of modern warfare; the unseen experience and extraordinary courage of soldiers, photojournalists, and civilians fighting for survival in conflict zones. Our goal is to remove the distance and mythology around foreign conflict; to shed light on the experience of those impacted by war and to activate a community with the help of We Are The Mighty, around these issues.”
Kilo Two Bravo is out on iTunes today, and in U.S. theaters Friday. To mark the release, the filmmakers are launching a global initiative, Sweat4Vets, to support veterans. Fans are asked to share videos of military fitness exercises to social media with the hashtag #Sweat4Vets, and challenge their friends to do the same. Donations from the social challenges will go towards Sweat4Vets veterans’ charities.
You can also get involved by downloading an exclusive Bundle for Kilo Two Bravo, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the film, and a photo essay from RISC Training with photographs from conflict journalists including Nicole Tung and Mike Kamber of the NY Times, featuring an introduction by founder Sebastian Junger.
If the Bundle reaches 1,000,000 downloads, Honora will release the full film as a pay-what-you-want download on Black Friday, with half the proceeds of the PWYW download will go to veterans’ charities associated with Sweat4Vets & Sebastian Junger’s RISC.
