Hollywood has this thing for "great" sequels -- Weekend at Bernies 2, Poltergeist 2, Robocop 2, Grease 2, Caddyshack 2, Speed 2, Land Before Time 2, and so on. But for the indie fan sequels haven’t ever been ‘a thing’ ... till Uncle Kent 2.
In 2011, Kent Osborne (best known as a writer/cartoonist on Spongebob Squarepants and Adventure Time or That Actor Without Shirt and Sometimes Pants), starred in Joe Swanberg’s original micro-budget feature Uncle Kent.
In a desperate search to create a follow-up, Osborne wrote Uncle Kent 2 and Swanberg directed the first 12 mins, before passing the torch onto indie American filmmaker Todd Rohal (The Catechism Cataclysm) to finish the job. What followed was a terribly brilliant absurdist successor that bends the rules of sequels and minds of those watching.
Today, the SXSW Audience Award winning comedy Uncle Kent 2 premieres clips and the official trailer -- trust us, it is a wild, WTF ride. And stay tuned to catch the film in theaters later this month.
